Australian Humanitarian Partnership

Facilitating a health check of a multi-agency humanitarian partnership

The Australian Humanitarian Partnership (AHP) is a 10-year partnership between the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and 6 leading Australian NGOs. The AHP focuses efforts on disaster response, as well as disaster risk reduction (DRR) and resilience, including through implementation of the Disaster Reader Program, which incorporates Anticipatory Action as a cornerstone of its approach. We were commissioned to evaluate the governance of the partnership, including its structures, functions and outcomes that operate at a whole of partnership level, through a complex set of Consortium Partners, as well as through localised Disaster Ready Country Committees in countries across the Pacific and Timor-Leste. The approach involves detailed document review, stakeholder interviews, workshops and syntheses of large amounts of qualitative data into actionable insights for informing partnership improvement.
