The Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP) aspires to a world without plastic pollution. With Wasafiri Consulting, this project focused on conducting a first-year formative evaluation of GPAP’s progress towards a set of intermediate and long-term outcomes. The evaluation was completed for a primary funder, Global Affairs Canada and explored the impact of circular economy approaches to plastic pollution reduction.
A review of outcomes, indicators and targets was first conducted to refine the scope of the evaluation. Key Informant Interviews, a survey, document reviews and focus groups were held with stakeholders globally, including a focus on Ghana, Indonesia and Viet Nam. Data analysis and synthesis was conducted in line with the reporting requirements for Global AffairsCanada, and an evaluation report produced.
A detailed evaluation of progress towards outcomes was conducted, and recommendations for refinements to data collection and analysis approaches provided. An annual report was produced including a dashboard of impact. This is innovative work in the field of multi-stakeholder partnerships and collaborations, and lessons learned are shared widely.
